Having (and duplicating) the command line documentation of every single emulator out there is unecessary, infeasible and simply has no place in Playnite documentation. You can see the existing profiles here, pretty much all emulators already have a profile: CONFIGURE RETROARCH WINDOWS 10 MANUAL"If exact steps for each emulator were described on the wiki, or even a stickied thread here, I would have saved myself some serious time."Īs mentioned in the wiki you can set up your emulators via automatic scan without any manual input. Setting up emulators is pretty straightforward, it's the same as creating a windows shortcut and the variables are shown when modifying the values and the wiki gives an specific example of it: I think Playnite looks great in fullscreen mode. Is that something that would be useful here? (is Playnite still actively developed, and is popular enough to warrant it?)Īfter all, I'm going to be going through most systems over the next few weeks. If exact steps for each emulator were described on the wiki, or even a stickied thread here, I would have saved myself some serious time. Now, I would put good money on me having already tried that, but I guess I couldn't have! L ".\cores\picodrive_libretro.dll" "" -fullscreen No matter how I arranged the various command-line arguments, it never seemed to work. I've used command-line emulators for many years, and it was the lack of precise info on how I needed to enter this information into Playnite so that it was passed onto Retroarch correctly that was causing problems. I found snippets of info concerning stating the core to use, but it was very hit and miss. The problem I was having, and not being able to find a lot of information on, is when using Retroarch to emulate, like I'm currently trying to do with genesis games. I've now also got all my Steam games listed, but that was easy, obviously. I had already been to the links you mention.Īs I said in my post, I've already set up all my Mame games and my Snes games, using stand-alone emulators, so I've got quite familiar with how Playnite works over the last couple of days. So I suppose my question is: Is there a list/wiki illustrating all the profiles, with required arguments, for all the systems?įor such a good FE, there seems to be a lack of consistent documentation for it, with most things being found in reddit posts or youtube videos, and a lot of them are vaque. I've been playing around with it, and no matter what I try, after hours of searching on the web, I cannot get Retroarch to start up and play a genesis game. I've set up Mame and Snes games within Playnite using Mame(!) and Snes9X, but there are a few systems that I want to emulate with Retroarch, starting with Genesis/MegaDrive. No need to build a cab, as I'm quite happy with having the whole thing on my living room TV, which is why I think Playnite is perfect for it. Years ago, I built my own Mame cab, with all the standard emulators and games on it, using a couple of different front-ends for it, but now, long after my cab has gone, I'm looking to set up a similar system on my PC. Apologies if this is already answered somewhere, or if this is in the wrong sub-forum.
